Welcome to St Matthew's Primary School

 

We are a busy, friendly school based in the heart of Bolton. Our website aims to give you an overview of what is going on in school as well as up-to-date information for parents, carers, pupils and the wider community. We are extremely proud of our school and visitors are always welcome. 

 

St. Matthew’s is a 2-form entry Church of England Primary School situated very close to the town centre of Bolton.  We embrace a child-centred approach to learning, celebrating everyone’s achievements and encouraging all children from all backgrounds to realise their full potential.

 

Our school has a welcoming, positive ethos and happy atmosphere and we enjoy a close relationship with the wider community along with local schools and nurseries.  Our children are keen to learn; they are well-motivated, positive, caring and responsive, reflecting our strong Christian values of love, respect, friendship and creativity realised through our school vision: “Let all you do be done in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14). 

 

The school has high expectations and aspirations for each of our children and both staff and children are proud to belong to the St Matthew’s family. Our school community is made up of a wide variety of families from many different backgrounds where parents support the school’s values based on mutual respect.  We work closely with the local churches and clergy, and we are proactive in the teaching of Christian values to nurture all aspects of our pupils’ development; academic, spiritual, social and moral.

 

We are passionate about helping each child to become equipped with the skills and attributes they need to succeed in life and become lifelong learners and, of course, we know how important it is to have fun too!
