Tuesday 6th January 2026 - Home Learning
As school is closed today you can have a go at these learning tasks and bring any work you do with you when you come back to school. You can also read your reading book and complete the homework which was sent home yesterday.
Maths - In Year 1 we are exploring the numbers 10 to 20. This includes counting, ordering, and writing the numbers in numerals and words.
Please have a go at practising this at home with your child. Below is an example of writing numbers in numerals and words:
10 — ten
11 — eleven
Please carry this on to 20!
English - For this home learning activity, we would love the children to explore the snow and ice.
Please support your child to safely step just outside your front door or into the garden. Encourage them to carefully touch the snow or ice and think about how it feels.
Can they write words or sentences to describe it? For example — is it soft, is it cold?
Please remind them to use capital letters, full stops, and finger spaces. We will be super impressed if they can use the word ‘and’ to extend their sentences.

Curriculum Overview
Upcoming events:
Thursday 25th September - Trip to Bolton Library
PE
This term our PE days will be Monday and Tuesday Please make sure you bring your PE kit in a bag on these days.
Reading
Please bring your reading books and records everyday so we can listen to you read in school.
The ‘5 Reads’: each half term, each year group has 5 new picture books to read daily during story time. These picture books are age appropriate and often link to the current learning for each year group. This ensures the children are exposed to a wide range of genres and authors across the year and develop confidence in knowing a variety of stories in greater depth. These ‘5 reads’ books are further celebrated in a half termly assembly to share the cohort’s favourite book of the half term and to receive their new ‘5 reads’.
Have a look at what we will be studying this term.
Year 1 Curriculum Overview
Unfortunately our school is closed on Tuesday 16th September, but we would like your child to complete an English and Maths task. In English we are reading the book 'Lost and Found' and would like your child to find out some facts about penguins. In Maths we have been exploring sorting and would like your child to complete a sorting activity. This will ensure your child doesn't miss out on key learning. Thank you.
