The Anderton Centre 2022

Year 6 had a fantastic time over two days at the Anderton centre.  Activities included: Raft building, low ropes, archery, tree climbing, crate stacking, Canadian canoeing and paddle boarding,

Our theme this half term is'...And the band played on'

“...And The Band Played On” is a thematic unit, based on the story of the Titanic, with a key focus on history.
It begins by locating the point at which the Titanic sank using Google Earth and working back from there,
learning about the ship’s communication systems, the timeline leading up to the tragedy and, finally,
deciding upon who should be held responsible for the demise of the unsinkable ship.

Last week we had a fabulous day looking at mark making.  From this we produced a sketchbook of work, which we put into an art gallery for the whole school to enjoy.  Here are some pictures of us at work.

Here you will find documents from previous terms.

Looking after you.

Having good mental health helps us relax more, achieve more and enjoy our lives more. Let's be honest: 2020-2021 has been pretty tough, and being back at school or college is not exactly a walk in the park either. That's why taking care of our mental health is so important, especially now.

Y6 Curriculum.

Our creative curriculum is driven by the 4Cs of communication, conflict, conservation and culture which meets the needs of our diverse school community.  It is designed to inspire an enthusiasm for learning, engaging with and learning about challenging 21st century issues, dealing with tomorrow’s issues today.

Y6 are Navigators.

We were visited by the deputy head teacher and two ex-pupils from St. Matthews.  They told us all about how exciting life is at Sharples school and invited us for an open evening.

On national fitness day we went outside and competed against each other in a variety of exercises.

Today we went for a walk up Winter hill.  We were extremely lucky that the weather was dry and warm.  It took us around two hours and we had lots of fun.  The views from the top were spectacular.
