Y6 SPELLINGS SUMMER

SUMMER 2:

Our theme this half term is '...And the band played on'.

“...And The Band Played On” is a thematic unit, based on the story of the Titanic, with a key focus on history.
It begins by locating the point at which the Titanic sank using Google Earth and working back from there,
learning about the ship’s communication systems, the timeline leading up to the tragedy and, finally,
deciding upon who should be held responsible for the demise of the unsinkable ship.

ART DAY

Last week we had a fabulous day looking at mark making.  From this we produced a sketchbook of work, which we put into an art gallery for the whole school to enjoy.  Here are some pictures of us at work.

SPRING 2022 DANCE OFF

As part of our English focus - ghost stories- we performed the Ghostbusters dance!

Year 6 went out litter picking in the local community.

Children in need 2021

As part of our theme topic and DT we built bridges using newspaper.

We were lucky enough to be visited by the world record breaking, gold medalist Matt Rotherham who competed at this year's Tokyo Olympics!

Class 6Cl went for our annual walk up Winter Hill last week.  The weather and conditions were tough, but we persevered!

We were visited by the deputy head teacher and two ex-pupils from St. Matthews.  They told us all about how exciting life is at Sharples school and invited us for an open evening.

Looking after you.

Having good mental health helps us relax more, achieve more and enjoy our lives more. Let's be honest: 2020 has been pretty tough, and being back at school or college is not exactly a walk in the park either. That's why taking care of our mental health is so important, especially now.
